JUDGMENT

1. This writ petition challenges a provisional seniority list of Sub Inspectors dated 18 August 2024, and of Inspectors dated 4 March 2025 issued by Respondent 2. It alleges that the lists have been prepared in violation of Rule 99.[2] A of the Railway Protection Force Rules, 1987.

2. We have heard Mr. Siddharth Batra, learned Counsel for the petitioners. W.P.(C) 8079/2025

3. Mr. Batra submits that his client has addressed seven representations to the respondents against the provisional seniority lists, but none have been addressed. We are sanguine that the respondents would address all the representations received against the provisional seniority lists before they finalise them. It is not the petitioner’s case that the respondents are operating the provisional seniority lists without finalising them.

4. Any legitimate cause of action in this case would arise only after the seniority lists are finalised.

5. Reserving liberty to the petitioners to challenge the final seniority lists, if any, issued, in accordance with law, we dispose of this writ petition, in limine, as premature.
