JUDGMENT

1. Four petitioners have jointly filed the present petition praying inter alia for issuing directions to the respondent No.1 /SSC to permit them to undergo the basic training for the post of Constable (GD) in CAPFs and Rifleman (GD) under respondents No.2 to 5/ BSF/CISF/CRPF/SSB, pursuant to an advertisement issued in February 2011.

2. When the case was listed for admission on 09.3.2016, having regard to fact that the posts in question were advertised in February 2011 and the results were declared as long back as in November 2016:DHC:3779 W.P.(C) 1624/2016 2011, it was deemed appropriate to direct the petitioners in the first instance to file their affidavits explaining the unreasonable delay in approaching the Court for relief. However, the said affidavits have not been filed despite two opportunities granted in that regard.

3. Learned counsel for the respondents states that in any case, it would be a futile exercise to entertain the present petition for the reason that the posts advertised in February 2011 have already been filled up and there is no vacancy available.

4. In view of the aforesaid position and having regard to the fact that the petitioners have failed to explain the inordinate delay in approaching the Court for relief, we are not inclined to entertain the present petition, which is accordingly dismissed along with pending application.
