JUDGMENT
(ORAL)

1. The petitioner has challenged the award of the Labour Court whereby compensation of Rs.40,000/- has been awarded to the petitioner. The petitioner is seeking enhancement of compensation.

2. The petitioner worked with the respondent as a Gate Keeper for about one year and his services were terminated in the year 2000. The Labour Court awarded compensation of Rs.40,000/- along with interest @ 9% per annum.

3. The petitioner present in person seeks enhancement of compensation to the tune of Rs.8,50,000/-.

4. There is no appearance on behalf of the respondent despite the matter 2019:DHC:3941 W.P.(C) 5847/2016 having been passed over once.

5. Mr.Pankaj Anil Arora, learned amicus curiae has made submissions to assist this Court in this matter.

6. This Court is satisfied that the compensation awarded by the Labour Court is on a lower side and it warrants enhancement. Considering all the relevant facts, the compensation awarded by the Labour Court is enhanced from Rs.40,000/- to Rs.1,25,000/- along with interest @ 9% per annum from the date of the award of the Labour Court i.e. 09th December, 2015.

7. The writ petition is allowed in the above terms.

8. Copy of this judgment be given dasti to the petitioner present in person under signatures of the Court Master. J.R. MIDHA, J. AUGUST 09, 2019 dk
