JUDGMENT
D.N. PATEL, Chief Justice (Oral)

1. This writ petition has been initiated by the Court on its own motion on the basis of the newspaper report dated 4th June, 2019 highlighting the issue of shortage of availability of Anti-rabies vaccines in Government and Municipal hospitals.

2. It appears from the affidavit dated 30.09.2019 filed by the respondent no.7 that, at present, Safdarjung Hospital, is getting a monthly supply of 9000 vials of Anti-rabies vaccination injection and, 2019:DHC:6740-DB W.P.(C) No.6738/2019 therefore, as on date they have sufficient stock of anti rabies vaccines.

3. Moreover, looking to the affidavit dated 19.09.2019 filed by respondent no.4/North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC), antirabies vaccines are being made available to Anti-Rabies Centres of the North Delhi Municipal Corporation and as per the instructions from the Drug Controller General of India and Drug Control Department of Delhi even the same are also being procured from the private sellers of anti-rabies vaccines.

4. Similarly, another writ petition being W.P.(C) No.2727/2019 which also involved the issue pertaining to availability of anti-rabies vaccination injections has been disposed of by this Court vide order and judgment dated 13.08.2019.

5. Looking at the reply of the aforesaid respondents about the availability of anti-rabies vaccines in Government run hospitals, we see no reason to further monitor this case.

6. Nevertheless, as earlier directed by this Court in W.P.(C) No.2727/2019 vide order and judgment dated 6th December, 2019, we once again reiterate to the respondents to ensure adequate supply of anti-rabies vaccines to the government run hospitals in Delhi.

7. With these observations, this writ petition is hereby disposed of.

CHIEF JUSTICE C.HARI SHANKAR, J DECEMBER 06, 2019
