These petitions have been filed under Section 29-A of the
Arbitration& Conciliation Act,1996 seeking a direction from this Court to extend the mandate of the learned Sole Arbitrator to complete the proceedings and renderthe Award.
I have been informed thatthe fmal arguments are being advanced bythe parties.
Even though, Mr. Salwan, learned counsel appearing for the petitioner(s) seeks 18 months time for the learned sole Arbitrator to render the award,this Court is ofthe view that the time sought is not reasonable and appropriate shall bethatthetime be extended by one year to enable the learned sole Arbitrator to complete the proceedings and rendertheaward effectivefrom June01,2020. Itisordered accordingly.
Notingthe prevailing situationin view ofCovid-19,appropriatefor the learned sole Arbitrator shall be to consider holding the proceedings through video conferencing.
Withthe aforesaid observation,the petitions are disposed of.
