JUDGMENT
1. This is a petition under Section 29A of the Arbitration & Conciliation Act, 1996, for extending the time available with the learned Sole Arbitrator to conclude the proceedings and render the award. The time available with the Arbitrator expired on 18 O R D E R (O R A L) % 19.11.2020 (Video-Conferencing) th March,
2020.
2. Learned Counsel for the respondent has no objection to extension of the time but submits that, in the interregnum, the parties may be referred to mediation as well, so that, if possible, the dispute between them could be amicably resolved.
3. In view thereof, this petition is disposed of by extending the time available with the learned Sole Arbitrator, to conclude the 2020:DHC:3295 OMP (MISC.) (COMM.) 235/2020 proceedings and render the award by a period of six months from today, as prayed in the petition.
4. However, in view of the submissions made by Mr. Grover, the parties are also referred to mediation before the Delhi High Court Mediation & Conciliation Centre. They may contact the Coordinating Officer of the Delhi High Court Mediation & Conciliation Centre tomorrow i.e. 20th November, 2020 at 2 p.m., so that a schedule for mediation can be drawn up.
5. In case the mediation fructifies in a settlement between the parties, they are at liberty to inform the learned Sole Arbitrator accordingly, so that necessary orders could be passed in accordance therewith.
