ORDER

1. The learned counsel for the petitioners submits that,since there.lias been compliance of the orders, he would like to withdraw the petitions.

2. However, the court would note that since compliance has been done only after the filing ofthese contempt petitions,for which the petitioners have expended monies, therefore, some element of costs oughtto beimposed upon the respondents.

3. The court is inclined to impose Rs.25,000/- as costs, however, at Qo the persistent requests ofthe learned counsel for the respondents, the same is reduced to Rs.15,000/- for each petition. The learned counsel for the petitioners submit that the said amount may be utilized for some socially-beneficial purposes. Accordingly,letthe said amount be deposited with the DCF (West), GNCTD, on or before 15.11.2021, failing which the Regional Director, NCTE, should be present in court. The monies so received shall be utilised for purchase ofabout 1650 trees by the DCF concerned for plantation in Central Ridge or along the NH-24, starting from Nizamuddin Bridge.

4. A compliance affidavit, along with photographs showing beforeand-after plantation, duly protected by tree-guards/fences, shall be filed both by the DCF concerned and the respondents in four weeks, failing which the case shall be listed for directions, with due intimation to the Regional Director, NCTE,who shall remain presentin the court. Community participation in the plantation and maintenance ofthe trees may be encouraged.

5. Subject to any extant policy, regarding the types of trees to be planted in urbanised areas(NH-24), and depending upon the soil type and topography,the respondents may consider planting trees ofthe following variety: (i)Amaltas (ii)Jamun (iii)Kadamb (iv)Kanju ). (v)Kachnaar (vi)Papdi (vii)Kosam/Kusum (viii)Pilkhan

6. For Central Ridge,depending upon the soil type and topography, the DCF may considerplanting the following variety oftrees: (i)Dhau (ii)Hingot (iii)Khair (iv)Kumttha (v)Dhak (vi)Phulai (vii)Kareel (viii)Salai (ix)Kala siris/safedsiris (x)Kaniar (xi)Pilkhan (xii)Pisangan (xiii)Amaltas (xiv)Chudailpapdi -f (xv)Ronjh (xvi)Bistendu

7. Each tree shall have a minimum oftwo-years' nursery-age and a trunk height ofsix feet.

8. A copy ofthis order be served upon Mr. Gautam Narayan, ASC, GNCTD, who has been assisting the court in number of cases apropos plantation of trees throughout the city,upon costs being levied on parties.Coordination in this regard may be done with him. ^

9. In view of the above, the petitions, along with pending applications,are dismissed as withdrawn.
