(ORAL)

1. On 17.10.2022, this Court had passed the following order:-

“1. The petitioner, who was selected for appointment as an Assistant Professor (Law) in respondent/University has approached this Court seeking a direction to the said respondent to issue her an extension of clear three months for joining on the said post so as to enable her to resign from the University, where she is presently working. 2. Even though, the petition is opposed by the learned counsel for the respondents on the ground that the respondent/University can, as per the applicable guidelines, not grant any further time to the petitioner to join the same, this Court is of the view that taking into account the fact that as a result of the interim order passed by this Court, the post is lying vacant, even after three years, it would not be in the interest of the students not to consider the petitioner’s request sympathetically. 3. At this stage, learned counsel for the respondents prays for and is granted time to obtain instructions as to whether as a one

4. At request, list on 21.11.2022.”

2. Ms. Kaul, learned counsel appearing on behalf of University/Respondent No.1, submits that Respondent No. 1 has agreed to grant one last extension for a period of three months to the Petitioner to join as Assistant Professor (Law) for which she was selected.

3. Learned counsel for the Petitioner accepts the offer made by the University and submits that the order granting extension be communicated to the Petitioner.

4. Accordingly, it is directed that Respondent No. 1 shall communicate the order extending the joining time by a period of three months, enabling the Petitioner to join within the said period.

5. Writ petition along with pending application is disposed of, in the aforesaid terms.

6. It is made clear that the extension has been granted by the University in the peculiar facts of the present case and as a one-time measure and this case shall not be treated as a precedent in any other case.
