JUDGMENT

1. Mr. Jagdish Chandra, learned CGSC candidly acknowledges that the dispute in this case is covered by the judgment of this Bench in UOI v. Ex Sub Gawas Anil Madso[1] and other cases. He restricts his relief to limiting the broad banding benefit prospectively from the date of the judgment in Union of India v. Ram Avtar[2].

2. As has been done by us in other cases, accordingly, we uphold the order of the AFT subject to the modification that broad banding would be granted to the respondent prospectively from the date of the judgment of the Supreme Court in Ram Avtar.

3. The writ petition is disposed of in the aforesaid terms. 318 (2025) DLT 711 2014 SCC OnLine SC 1761 W.P.(C) 18983/2025

4. Compliance with the impugned judgment of the AFT, if not already ensured, be ensured within a period of 12 weeks from today.
