JUDGMENT
MANMOHAN, ACJ : (ORAL)

1. Present writ petition has been filed by the Petitioner seeking directions to the Respondents to restore electricity supply in the homeless shelter located at open air theatre community hall, 2541-51/Viii, Gali Lajpat, Shankar Gali, Delhi identified by homeless shelter code 49 and to further direct the Respondents to ensure continuous and uninterrupted supply of electricity in the homeless shelter. Petitioner further prays for directing the Respondents to ensure that the homeless shelter is kept operational and to ensure that basic facilities such as beds along with mattress and bedsheet, blankets and drinking water are provided.

2. Learned counsel for the Petitioner states that the said homeless shelter provides shelter to more than one hundred and thirty (130) homeless people. However, for the last thirty (30) days, there is no electricity in the said shelter home and the same is causing great hardship to the residents of the shelter home.

3. Learned counsel for the Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board (DUSIB) who appears on advance notice states that electricity has been disconnected because electricity bills have not been paid for quite a few years. He states that a sum of Rs. 19 lakhs has been transferred to BSES Yamuna Power Limited today. He further assures and undertakes to this Court that the balance outstanding amount, if any, shall be cleared today evening.

4. The BSES Yamuna Power Limited is directed to restore the electricity connection today evening.

5. Mr. Chauhan, learned counsel for DUSIB assures and undertakes to this Court that basic facilities such as beds along with mattresses and bedsheet, blankets and drinking water shall be provided to the inmates.

6. The aforesaid statements/assurances/undertakings are accepted by this Court and DUSIB is held bound by the same.

7. Accordingly, the present writ petition along with pending application is closed.
