Petitioner and respondent no. 2 were married on 14th February, 2004. On account of temperamental differences they could not live together for long. On the complaint of respondent no. 2, FIR in question under Sections 498-A/406/34 IPC was registered on 23rd August, 2007 against petitioner no. 1 and his relatives i.e. petitioner nos. 2 to 6 at Police Station Sangam
Vihar. Now, parties have settled their disputes amicably before the Mediation Centre, Tis Hazari Court on 7th October, 2009.
Petitioner no. 1 and respondent no. 2 have decided to part ways and have even obtained a decree of divorce by way of mutual consent from the court of Additional District Judge on 18th August, 2010. Respondent no.2, who is present in Court and has been identified by the Investigating Officer, confirms that she has already received a sum of ~1.50 lakh from petitioner no.1, in i n

'J terms of the settlement. Remaining settled amount of ~50,000 /- has been paid today to respondent no. 2 in cash by petitioner no.l. Respondent no. 2 has no objection in case the FIR is quashed.
Keeping in mind that both the parties have settled their disputes and have, in fact, obtained a decree of divorce by mutual consent, no fruitful purpose would be served in keeping the present criminal proceedings pending. Accordingly, in the larger interest, FIR No. 825/2007 under Sections 498-/406/34
IPC registered at Police Station Sangam Vihar and consequent proceedings emanating therefrom are quashed.
Petition is disposed of in the above terms. Dasti.
