JUDGMENT

1. Allowed, subject to all just exceptions.

2. This petition has been filed by the petitioner praying for the following reliefs: “a) issue of a writ of mandamus directing the Respondents to release the outstanding dues in the form of Salary for five months to the tune of Rs.3,00,000/- approximately, Risk and Hardships Allowance to the tune of Rs.2,00,000/- approx., Security Deposit of Rs.1,00,000/-; b) The Petitioner is also entitled for penal interest at the rate of 12% per annum on the outstanding amounts as detailed above;”

It is the case of the petitioner that the petitioner resigned from the post of Junior Engineer in the General Reserve Engineer Force (GREF) on 18.02.2024 and joined the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) on 25.02.2024. In spite of his repeated representations, the amount claimed in the petition has not been released to him.

4. Issue notice.

5. Notice is accepted by Mr.Manish Kumar, the learned counsel for the respondents. He submits that the process of final settlement of the accounts of the petitioner is in progress and it would take some more time for the same.

6. We are unable to appreciate the time which is being taken by the respondents to process the claim of the petitioner. We, therefore, direct that the final accounts of the petitioner be settled within a period of four weeks from today. The release of the amount due to the petitioner, if any, shall accompany a detailed calculation and in case any amount is being withheld from the claim of the petitioner, giving reasons for the same. In that event, it will be open to the petitioner to challenge such refusal in accordance with the law.

7. The petition is disposed of in the above terms.
